Fratelli Tutti: To see what really matters” was a talk originally delivered to men and women religious in the United States as a webinar sponsored by the Conference of Major Superiors of Men on January 21, 2021. Given the time constraints of the talk, Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, could only touch upon several rich and provocative themes. The Review for Religious invites authors to reflect and develop these themes into essays for possible publication in the online version of the Review for Religious

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  •  Concrete ways in which fraternity impacts one’s understanding of charism
  • How might those in religious life becomes artisans who model the culture of encounter, especially the encounter of the poor and marginalized?
  • The need for unity-in-difference as a sign of the times and how consecrated religious life can respond to this need
  • The mysticism of consecrated life
  • The “upsetting logic of the Incarnation of the Word” as a frame of reference for mission in religious life
  • What possibilities and challenges does inculturation present to religious life today?

In order to be strong candidates for publication, essays should follow our submission and style guide, available here. Please ensure your essay:

  • Deals primarily with consecrated religious life and some part of Cardinal Czerny’s talk
  • Is between 1,800 and 2,100 words
  • Is coherent, well-written, and focused primarily on a single insight or point.
